No. 30 (2017)
Monographic series: "Dramaturgia femenina actual. De 1986 a 2016". (Coord. by Eva García-Ferrón and Cristina Ros-Berenguer)
December 2017.What are the distinguishing features of dramatic discourse written by women from the beginning of the 21st century to the present day? To what extent does it follow the male standards and when is it subverted or changed? This monograph series aims to offer answers to these and many other questions. All the studies contained here are displayed as original and complex creations, a vast universe hardly reducible to a handful of themes or formats. Today’s women playwrights compose monologues, short and extensive pieces, comedies and dramas, surrealist creations, texts of historical inspiration or those reinterpreting traditional stories. This rich formal diversity corresponds to a profusion of issues that encompass, obviously, many of the themes addressed by playwrights, but to which some other issues that are absent in texts written by men are added. Motherhood is, for instance, an issue addressed by these female authors from the most varied perspectives, some of them unsuspected and all of them very necessary in the current social context.
